QUINCY (WGEM) - Heat advisories have been issued across the Tri-States as we head into the first few days of summer. For Scotland and Clark counties in Missouri, Lee county Iowa, and Hancock and McDonough counties in Illinois, a heat advisory has been issued beginning noon Saturday through 8pm Monday for heat indices up to 105°.

QUINCY (WGEM) - A few stray showers remain possible as we head into Sunday evening, then we will clear out overnight leading to a nice start to Monday. Temperatures will drop down into the low-mid 50′s, before we rise into the mid 70′s with mostly sunny skies. A few clouds will pass through the northern tier of the Tri-States, but an overall pleasant day is in store to kick off the week. We will drop into the low-mid 50′s overnight Monday into Tuesday, then we will hover around 80° for Tuesday.

QUINCY (WGEM) - Widespread rain will continue to move through the Tri-States into Saturday evening. We will clear out from rain and turn partly cloudy overnight into Sunday morning. Lows will drop into the upper 50′s, before we warm into the low 80′s Sunday. By Sunday afternoon, cloud cover will begin to increase with a few scattered thunderstorms developing. The Tri-States is in a Level 2 of 5 threat of severe weather for Sunday afternoon.

FORT MADISON (WGEM) - The National Weather Service confirmed on Thursday that the storm that blew through Fort Madison on Tuesday evening produced an EF-0 tornado. NWS said the tornado touched down southwest of Fort Madison. They said the storm produced winds up to 80 mph with a path length of .17 miles long and 10 yards wide. The tornado was on the ground for a total of 2 minutes. The storm caused damage throughout Fort Madison and derailed a train in Lee County near 239th Avenue.

QUINCY (WGEM) - After Tuesday’s storms, parts of the Tri-States have seen localized rainfall accumulations of over 4″! Most of the region has seen around 2″ of rainfall per radar estimates, and more chances of showers remain in play through the week. As we move into Wednesday morning, showers will eventually come to an end for most of us. A few locations in Pike/Scott counties in Illinois may see a few lingering showers into the early afternoon.
