A little piece of Madison history sits tucked off the northwest corner of the Beltline and Fish Hatchery Road interchange. Licari’s, a neighborhood bar, has been serving massive burgers to loyal regulars for more than 60 years. Licari's Bar & Grill has been on Emil Street, now next to a small strip mall and across from a Kwik Trip, since 1961. Before that, Licari’s Spot Tavern was in Madison’s Greenbush neighborhood. Jerry Licari sold the bar to a friend, Larry Schmidt, in 1981.

The PWHL added a second expansion team that will hit the ice for the 2025-26 season, announcing a Seattle team on Tuesday. The announcement was made at Climate Pledge Arena, home of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken and the press release said the bid for a team was led by Oak View Group, the developers and operators of Climate Pledge Arena, alongside the Kraken. The unnamed PWHL Seattle team will play at Climate Pledge and train at the Kraken Community Iceplex.

For the second straight year, the U.S. and Canada needed overtime to decide the winner of the IIHF Women’s World Championship gold-medal game. This time, the Americans came out on top and earned gold with a 4-3 win over their northern rivals. There’s an ice rink in far North Central Wisconsin, about 20 miles from the border with Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, that is the home and pride of many local hockey communities. Built in 1933, the Historic Eagle River Sports Arena is the first indoor hockey arena built in the state. First things first because I don't think it can be said enough - Czechia did a spectacular job hosting this tournament. Since my coverage of this tournament was a little waylaid by technology and you can read game recaps of today's semifinals in about a dozen other places, I'm trying something different. USA 2, Czechia 1Anyone looking at the box score of the game in the future will really fail to grasp how tight this game actually was. The 11 shots on goal don't really give the Czech offense enough credit. If I'm reading the shot chart correctly, the Americans had 24 blocks.
