AM Headlines:Sunny & PleasantClouds Return MidweekUnsettled Pattern Late WeekDiscussion:After a stormy weekend, we’re in for a pleasant start to the work week. Today will be an “open the windows” type of day with highs in the mid 70s under sunny skies. While most of the area stays dry, a little extra instability from a spinning upper level low to our west could trigger a few isolated showers and even a rumble of thunder over the mountains and foothills this afternoon.

We’re in for some unsetted weather this weekend, thanks to a cold front moving in from the west and a stagnant upper level low pressure system that will meander over the Tennessee Valley. A blocking pattern will make this a slow moving system, which means storms capable of producing damaging wind, hail and heavy rain will stick around longer. The threat of severe weather begins Friday with isolated to widely scattered storms, before becoming more widespread Saturday.

AM Weather Headlines:Strong to Severe Storms PossibleFriday PM & SaturdayDamaging Wind, Heavy Rain ThreatCooling Down SundayMore Settled Next WeekDiscussion:We start off today with a quiet morning, but things will change this afternoon as showers and thunderstorms begin to develop across the region. A cold front moving in will trigger strong storms later today. The risk for severe weather is slightly higher west of I-77 with damaging wind and localized flooding the biggest concerns.

AM Headlines:Warm & BreezySpotty PM StormsSaturday Cold FrontCooling Down Late WeekendDiscussion:High pressure to our east and an approaching upper level disturbance will continue to pull warm tropical air into the region through the end of the week. This sets the stage for scattered afternoon storms across the high country  — fueled by daytime heating and lift courtesy of the terrain. The Piedmont will once again likely stay more dry thanks to the strong ridge overhead.

AM Headlines:Feeling MuggyIsolated to Scattered StormsHot and Sticky through FridayCold Front SaturdayCooler by SundayDiscussion:It’s a bit more mild this morning thanks to the added clouds and moisture flowing into the region. Highs today will climb into the mid to upper 80s with the return of spotty afternoon storms. Instability a bit higher in the mountains with a stalled boundary north of the area and the ridge beginning to break down. Any storms the kick up will die down after sunset.
