West Coast Thermal, in Workington, was founded by Neil Murray, Barry Graham and John Boughey, who initially met while working at West Cumberland Insulation in Maryport. When the opportunity arose for the trio to start their own industrial insulation firm, they set up West Coast Thermal Ltd with the policy of never turning down any work.

A major consortium has revealed plans to base a sustainable aviation fuel project in Barrow, which would create 850 new jobs across the North West. GRAMM has announced its application to the UK Advanced Fuels Fund to win support to accelerate its ground-breaking Sustainable Aviation Fuel project. It said it would act as a catalyse to decarbonise the UK aviation industry. The proposed location for the project is the Royal Port of Barrow.

Matthew Hutton and Adam Pattison have been promoted to the roles, while Rich Cowell joins the firm as business services director in Penrith. Armstrong Watson has also made a senior hire in its Hexham team, with Ellen Bulloch joining as business services senior manager. Matthew is Armstrong Watson’s head of hospitality, leisure and tourism and is based at the firm’s Kendal office.
