On Wednesday 27 November 2024, the government produced an amendment paper on the Employment Rights Bill. The Employment Rights Bill was presented on 10 October 2024 and contained significant changes to employment law that will come into force in 2026. It is perhaps no surprise that amendments are required, given the scale of the new bill and the potential impact on employers.

In January 2024, we reported on the changes to the Ofsted post-inspection complaints arrangements following Ofsted’s consultation on the proposed changes. Ofsted has now published its new guidance about how those proposed changes would work in practice for Ofsted events/ inspections, which have taken place on or after 4 April 2024. For inspections which took place before 4 April 2024, the previous process remains in force.

It is really encouraging to see CQC develop the Single Assessment Framework (“SAF”) in response to feedback. A number of care providers have services which had been rated Requires Improvement or Inadequate at inspections prior to the introduction of the SAF – in many cases, those ratings dating back to 2019 or earlier.
