    A man has been charged and remanded into custody following an incident of grievous bodily harm (GBH) in Watford. Police were called just before 10.20pm on Tuesday, July 23, to reports of an assault in Maeme’s on Clarendon Road, Watford. It is reported that two people entered the shop with knives and assaulted a man. The victim, a man aged in his 20s, suffered a stab wound. Officers attended and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

    A Radlett-based animal sanctuary that provides a home for abandoned horses has received a £20,000 donation. Cecil’s Horse Sanctuary, which is based in Radlett and has locations across Beds, Herts and Bucks, was given the donation as part of the People’s Postcode Lottery’s (PPL) weekly Millionaire Street prize.

    A company based in Hunton Bridge has been prosecuted for fly tipping. Eco Clear Waste Management (ECWM) pleaded guilty at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 31, to the unauthorised deposit of controlled waste in Dodds Lane, Hemel Hempstead. The offence took place in September 2023. ECWM was ordered to pay £13,475, which consisted of a £10,000 fine, £1,159 costs, £2,000 victim surcharge and compensation of £316.

    A pair of local tennis coaches recently staged a 24-hour tennis marathon during which the players only put down their racquets for food and trips to the bathroom. Coaches Jon Wildman and Mark Collett from non-profit club GetSet4Tennis played their first match at their Maple Cross site on Saturday, June 29, and didn’t stop until the same time on Sunday.
