    The American Red Cross is assisting two people after a fire early Friday morning on Hideaway Road in Broadalbin, Fulton County. The fire started at around 1:33 a.m. when the back of the house became fully engulfed in flames, the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company said. The fire also heavily damaged a second house. National Grid was also on scene to help with live wires that fell. It is unknown if anyone was injured.

    Troy Police said they responded to a threat at the Congregation Berith Sholom Synagogue Sunday morning. No services were occurring at the time and no individuals were inside the synagogue. The building was searched and determined to be safe, police said. Troy Police say that they believe other similar anonymous threats were received at a variety of locations across several states Sunday morning.     Columbia County is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Sunday afternoon. The 3rd annual Latin-X Festival kicks off with a parade at the public square in Hudson at 1 pm. The parade starts on Warren Street and ends at the Hudson waterfront around 2pm. There will be performers, vendors, and contractors at the event — all of whom represent the Latin-X community. The event runs until 6 o clock with an after party happening until 11.

    New York State Police are investigating after three people were stabbed Saturday evening at an apartment complex in Troy. The stabbing happened at around 7:29 p.m. at the Sugar Hill Apartment Complex on 400 McChesney Avenue, State Police said. The victims were taken to area hospitals and their current condition is unknown. One person is in custody and there is no current threat to the public, State Police said. The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.

    Friday marked the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month – it’s celebrated every year from September 15 to October 15. It’s a month to celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Let’s take a look back at history. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon B. Johnson. It was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period.
