Remember Smart? The makers of those dinky little cars from the late 1990s and early 2000s? This isn’t that company. It shares the same name, but back in 2019 it was spun off into a join venture by Mercedes-Benz and Chinese conglomerate Geely, owners of Volvo, Polestar and Lotus. This is the first production vehicle to come from the new Smart, the #1. And yes, you pronounce the hash. Bit naff, but we’ve seen weirder.
