The first Surrey and Hampshire schools to offer free breakfast clubs for pupils as part of the Government's flagship scheme have been revealed. The 20 schools across the two counties are among some 750 that have been chosen to join a trial scheme running from April.

The first schools to offer free breakfast clubs for pupils as part of the Government's flagship scheme have been named ahead of a trial of the programme. Some 750 state schools with primary-aged children from every region of England have been selected to join the pilot, which is expected to run from April before a national rollout. 11 of the selected schools are in either Kent or Medway council areas.

Rachel Reeves has said the UK is “absolutely happy” to look at joining a tariff-free trading scheme with Europe after the EU left the door open to British membership. She indicated that the Government would consider signing up to the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention (PEM), stating they are open to any "constructive ideas" as long as they adhere to the UK's "red lines" regarding not reverting back to EU membership.
