    As Gov. Phil Murphy gives his State of the State address today, one trend is apparent in New Jersey: the state is growing. In the latest U.S. Census estimate, New Jersey is home to an estimated 9,500,851 residents, a 1.3% increase over 2023 and more than 200,000 new residents since 2020, the biggest increase of any state in the Northeast. The racial breakdown is 52% White, 22% Hispanic, and 16% Black, according to the U.S. Census.
