One person was killed Sunday when a car ran off a Midlands road and crashed, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The single-vehicle collision happened at about 2 a.m. in Lee County, Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover said Wednesday. A 2013 Nissan Altima was driving south on Spring Hill Road, according to Glover. Near the intersection with Shiver Pond Road the Nissan ran off the right side of Spring Hill Road then crashed into an embankment before flipping over, Glover said.

A tip that drugs were being shipped from California to South Carolina led to a recent bust and an arrest, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. On Tuesday, deputies “dismantled a major drug operation in Aiken County,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Multiple strands of raw marijuana, along with several thousand marijuana THC infused gummies and vape pens — all with an estimated street value of around $500,000 — were seized, according to the release.

A male was killed Wednesday in South Carolina when the bicycle he was riding was involved in a crash with a cement truck, according to the Columbia Police Department. At about 2 p.m., police said a serious traffic collision happened at the intersection of Main Street and Calhoun Street, in the downtown Columbia area.

A teacher at a high school in South Carolina was arrested Wednesday for sending inappropriate text messages to a student, according to the Sumter Police Department. Torey A. Shannon, a 42-year-old Sumter resident, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said in a news release. Shannon is a teacher at Sumter High School, police told The State. He’s a Career & Technology teacher, according to the school’s website.

A search is underway for a missing South Carolina man whose safety could be at risk. Kelvin Corbin was publicly reported missing by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday. The 61-year-old has not been seen for more than a week, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. Corbin was last seen April 29, on Liliana Drive, according to the release. That’s in Columbia, near North Brickyard Road, not far from Two Notch Road.
