The Vancouver Canucks will need to take on some risk this summer if they want to slingshot back up the standings. The club is in a state of transition after a dreadful season, which saw them take a step backwards. They had to trade J.T. Miller because of a feud with co-star Elias Pettersson and slid down the standings, missing the playoffs after winning the division the year before. The Canucks don’t have time to be patient with their retool.

May 19 2025, 2:17 amThe Toronto Maple Leafs didn’t show up in the biggest game of the season. The Leafs were blown out by the Florida Panthers 6-1 in Game 7 of their second-round series, a repeat score of the Game 5 blowout. However, this year will go down as yet another dreadful playoff disappointment from the Leafs. The Panthers were the better team right from the opening puck drop.

Fully agree with Adam. Some in #Canucks universe are quick to say goalie is a strength when all three of Lankinen, Silovs and Demko have question marks.

Of the 61 goalies who played at least 20 games last season, the Canucks had their goalies rank 26th and 51st in save percentage. Excess of strength?

Brett McLean was HC of the Iowa Wild last year. Not sure how much involvement he had in their PP but the team finished at 13.8%, worst in the AHL. #Canucks

#Canucks will have zero games of NHL head coaching experience on their coaching staff next season. For those that are sick of teams rotating through the usual suspects again and again, it’s a welcome sight, although potentially a risky one in an intense Canadian market.
