This week, the elected officials began hearing from city department heads on how they assembled their budget and answered questions about proposed changes. Most departments heard this week are requesting more funds than allocated last year, while some are projecting they will need less.

CHEYENNE – The beverage business is booming in Cheyenne as two local entities are expanding. Barrett Creek Coffee, which previously operated out of a food truck, will open a brick-and-mortar location inside the Historic Cheyenne Depot next week, and Beach Please plans to open a third location in Cheyenne next month.

CHEYENNE – Anticipated general fund revenues in the next city budget are up from the current fiscal year, but Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins said it's important to proceed with a fiscally conservative budget after the state Legislature passed more laws lowering property taxes for most Wyoming homeowners. The projected general fund revenues for fiscal year 2026, which begins July 1, 2025, are $74,417,876, up $2,770,229 from FY 2025, or 3.8%.

CHEYENNE – The 20th annual Cheyenne Day of Giving will take place Friday, but the support the fundraiser provides for the community lasts all year long. “The work we do outside of May is every bit as important as the Day of Giving itself, because both instances, the event and the work throughout the year, helps fill the gap between what agencies need and what they have the money for,” said Greta Morrow, founder of the Day of Giving.
