Delirium, an acute disorder of attention and cognition, has been well-recognized as a common, serious, and potentially preventable contributor to poor outcomes in older adults, including substantial morbidity, mortality, and loss of independence, along with tremendous healthcare costs.1, 2 Despite its importance, delirium remains relatively neglected as an area of scientific investigation.
