Fire broke out at the Brakfontein substation last week, leaving people in the dark. Tshwane Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Utility Services, Frans Boshielo said the progress is going well at the substation.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the adoption of the 2025 Fiscal Framework and Revenue Proposals is aimed at growing the economy and improving the livelihoods of South Africans. Parliament approved the fiscal framework by 194 votes to 182. The framework had earlier been endorsed by the Standing Committee on Finance without any amendments.

EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo has urged motorists to exercise caution, maintain a safe following distance, and prioritise road safety. Khumalo also warned residents against driving through flooded roads or low-lying bridges, which pose serious risks during heavy downpours. “Residents living near riverbanks should be particularly vigilant during this period,” Khumalo added.
