    Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja following his one-day visit to Senegal. He represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 65th anniversary celebration of Senegal’s independence. During his visit to Dakar, Shettima attended official independence anniversary ceremonies including a grand parade at the Mamadou Dia Boulevard, presided over by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

This is following the appointment of the Group Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors by President Bola Tinubu. The team which will be headed by the GCEO, Mr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has Rowland Ewubare as Group Chief Operating Officer; Adedapo Segun as Group Chief Financial Officer; and Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President Gas, Power & New Energy.

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday, attended the National Eid Prayers Ground along Airport Road, Abuja, to join other Muslims for the Eid-el-Fitr prayer marking the end of Ramadan. The President was welcomed by Vice President Kashim Shettima upon his arrival. Government officials, including members of the Federal Executive Council and National Assembly, are also in attendance for the Eid prayers.

    A veteran journalist and the long-serving host of Straight Talk Africa on Voice of America (VOA), Shaka Ssali, is dead. He died on Thursday, 27 March 2025, just two weeks shy of his 72nd birthday. Fondly known as the “Kabale Kid,” Ssali was a respected journalist whose insightful interviews and fearless discussions on governance, democracy, and human rights earned him recognition across the continent.

    A bandit kingpin, Yusuf Yellow, has been killed in Zamfara. The terrorist, also known as Dan Isuhu, was killed during a gun fight with bandits loyal to another terror kingpin, Dogo Gide. Until his death, Yusuf Yellow had been terrorizing motorists along the Gusau – Tsafe – Funtua road and villages in Faskari, Gusau and Tsafe. Yusuf Yellow’s death was confirmed by the spokesperson of Zamfara governor Sulaiman Bala Idris in a Facebook post on Thursday.
