The Egbo Egbo Bassey House is a prefabricated wooden structure, possibly built in 1886 and assembled in Duke Town, Old Calabar. It is now a listed National Monument.

The High Court sitting in Uyo has granted Prof. Ignatius Uduk, a university don, bail on alleged electoral fraud pending the outcome of his appeal. The decision was made on Thursday by Justice Okon Okon, who cited the applicant’s critical health condition as a key factor in granting the bail. Justice Okon Okon, in his ruling on the bail application for the applicant, said the applicant is granted bail on the sum of N2 million with two sureties.

The Oyo State Government has withdrawn the criminal charges against Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM; and Abdullahi Fasasi, the Principal of the Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, over the tragic stampede that claimed the lives of over 35 children during a children’s festive party in December 2024.
