    Genomic instability is one of the key hallmarks of cancer (1,2). Two main types of genomic instability are found in cancers: at the nucleotide level and at the chromosome level (3). The latter is referred to as chromosome instability (CIN), which has been observed in a wide variety of tumors (4,5). Though the underlying mechanisms of CIN are complex, the breakage-fusion-bridge (BFB) cycle is considered one of the major drivers of CIN (4–6).
