(Bloomberg) -- Electric car drivers will have to pay London’s congestion charge for the first time next year but at a discounted rate, city authorities said. The full fee, which drivers pay to enter the center of the city, will rise from £15 ($20) to £18 a day, under proposals released by Transport for London, which manages the city’s road charging program.

The UK should spare flood defense programs from budget cuts to be announced in June, as the country is already woefully unprepared for worsening disasters linked to climate change, a government adviser has said. “We are seriously concerned that resilience and climate adaptation may be cut in the spending review,” said Julia King, chair of the Climate Change Committee’s adaptation group.
