SEATAC, Wash. — If you’re heading to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport soon, there’s major changes occurring at security checkpoints. Beginning April 17, the airport is adding a lower-level security checkpoint and renumbering its existing checkpoints. The new security checkpoint, to be named Checkpoint 1, will be located on the airport’s baggage claim level. It will accept people for general screening, TSA PreCheck, CLEAR and the airport’s own program SEA Spot Saver.

DESCHUTES COUNTY, Ore. — A 13-year-old boy from Anacortes died after crashing into a tree while snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies responded to the slopes around 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, when the boy was reported missing. Ski patrol later found the boy unresponsive in an area of trees near the resort's Sunrise chairlift.

AUBURN, Wash. — A 51-year-old Kent man is presumed dead after fleeing from police to his Auburn workplace, where a fire broke out on Tuesday. The Kent Police Department (KPD) said officers attempted to arrest the man for an armed domestic violence assault around 8 a.m. at a Kent apartment. As police responded to the apartment, the man fled in a black truck and eluded officers when they tried to pull him over.

TACOMA, Wash. — Three teens have been charged in connection to the February killing of a teen inside a Tacoma apartment building. On Feb. 22, 18-year-old Messiah Washington was shot and killed inside the elevator of a Hilltop apartment building. He was found by his father, court documents state. In March, police arrested and charged a boy, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, with second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
