When Richard Nixon resigned from the presidency more than 50 years ago, on Aug. 8, 1974, to be precise, I was a reporter for my hometown newspaper, the Natchez (Mississippi) Democrat. Nixon’s downfall was due to newspaper reporting that connected the White House to a 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee offices in Washington, D.C.’s Watergate Hotel, so I was feeling pretty good about being a journalist. kAm~? QUESTA — There are some things a man never forgets, even if — like Valdemar DeHerrera -- he lives to be a 105. Things such as surviving on grasshoppers and monkey meat, working hard and being beaten if you resisted. kAm%9:?8D DF49 2D 4@==2AD:?8 7C@> H62<?6DD 2?5 36=:6G:?8 J@F H@F=5 36 D9@E @C 32J@?6EE65 367@C6 J@F 4@F=5 86E FA]k^AmkAm%9:?8D DF49 2D H@?56C:?8 :7 J@F H@F=5 6G6C 36 7C66 282:?[ 6G6C D66 E96 A6@A=6 J@F =@G65 >@DE 282:?]k^AmkAms6w6CC6C2[ @7 E:?J r@DE:==2 :?
