The Independent National Electoral Commission has dismissed the recall petition filed against the suspended senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. “The petition for the recall of the senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended),” the electoral body wrote on X Thursday afternoon.

Widespread blackouts again hit Nigeria on Friday after the country’s electricity grid suffered a partial collapse, throwing several cities into perpetual darkness. The grid collapsed due to the partial system failure from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which continues to struggle for maintenance. Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) announced a system outage around 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
