Warmer air returns, but a redeveloping onshore breeze in the evenings will bring overnight relief from the heat. Monday will start off cool, sunny, and calm, with temperatures climbing into the 80s by lunchtime and reaching a high near 92 degrees. Temperatures in the foothills are expected to rise into the upper 80s in the afternoon, with forecast highs near 72 in the Sierra. A noticeable Delta breeze will develop in the afternoon, blowing at about 10–15 mph until sunset.

TURN INTO A VERY BIG ONE. AS WE LOOK OUT FROM OUR CAMERA AT SUTTER BUTTE, WE’RE LOOKING AT THE SIERRA WHERE A STORM DID POP UP PRETTY UNEXPECTEDLY EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON. THE CLOUDS ARE DIMINISHING AND THEY’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO A QUIETER REST OF THE EVENING. SO A LOT HAPPENING AROUND THE REGION TODAY. WE HAD A STORM IN THE SIERRA AND THE WINDS TODAY THAT ARE BACKING DOWN. NOW THEY’RE ABOUT 10 TO 15MPH IN SACRAMENTO LITTLE STRONGER DOWN IN STOCKTON.

NEVER TOO HOT FOR GUMBO. WELL, YOU GOT THREE MINUTES TO GET OUT THERE AND GRAB SOME. AND THE WEATHER IS REALLY NICE. DON’T REALLY HAVE AN EXCUSE. MADE FOR SOME LOVELY MEMORIES. THIS FATHER’S DAY STARTED OFF WITH SOME CLOUDY SKIES. TURNED INTO A SUNNY AFTERNOON. AND WE DO HAVE FEW CLOUDS LINGERING OVER THE SIERRA STILL AS WE LOOK OUT FROM OUR SUTTER BUTTE CAMERA LOOKING OUT TO EAST 90 DEGREES TODAY. SO OUR STREAK OF 80 HAS COME TO AN END. THE LAST TIME WE WERE IN THE 90S WAS LAST SATURDAY.

As the clouds clear by noon, valley temperatures will climb into the 70s around lunchtime and rise toward a high near 87 degrees under sunny skies. Highs in the foothills will range from the low to mid-80s, while afternoon temperatures in the Sierra will be near 76 degrees. Winds will be breezy in the Sierra.

RIGHT NOW. NO, NOT TOO MUCH. SO WE DON’T REALLY HAVE TOO MUCH OF A DELTA BREEZE IN THE VALLEY TO HELP COOL US DOWN. WHAT WE DO HAVE, THOUGH, ARE THOSE CLOUDS. THEY MOVED IN EARLIER THAN EXPECTED AND BECAUSE OF THAT, STOLE A FEW DEGREES FROM US. SO WALKING OUT THIS LATE AFTERNOON TO DREARY SKIES, BUT AT LEAST TEMPERATURES ONLY MADE IT UP TO 84. NOW WE’RE DROPPING BACK TO 82 DEGREES. AUBURN SITTING AT 81, IN YUBA CITY.
