It looks like the Falcons know which quarterback they'll be facing to open the 2024 NFL season. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced this afternoon that Russell Wilson be the starting QB for the Steelers over Justin Fields as they prepare to start the season against Atlanta. Wilson missed the first week of Steelers training camp while recovering from a calf injury, and Fields assumed the majority of the first-team reps.

After losing rookie linebacker Bralen Trice to a season-ending injury in the first preseason game of the year against the Dolphins last Friday, the Falcons wasted little time in finding a veteran replacement. According to various reports, Atlanta is sending a 2025 third-round pick to the New England Patriots in exchange for pass-rusher Matthew Judon.
Dejounte Murray headed to New Orleans

The Atlanta Hawks continued Friday afternoon a busy offseason by making their biggest move so far. According to multiple reports, the Hawks are sending G Dejounte Murray to New Orleans for F Larry Nance Jr., G Dyson Daniels, and first-round picks in 2025, and 2027. The move gets the Hawks back into the first round of the draft in 2025, and 2027. Murray was acquired from the San Antonio Spurs in 2022 for three first-round picks (2025, 2027, 2026 pick swap).
Hawks trading F AJ Griffin to Houston for #44th pick

It looks like the Hawks are going to have another pick in this year's draft, afterall. Adrian Wojnarowski reporting this afternoon that the Hawks are sending forward AJ Griffin to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the 44th overall pick. The 16th pick in the 2022 draft out of Duke, AJ played in 72 games his rookie year, averaging 8.9 points per game. AJ played in only 20 games this past season, due to injuries, and personal issues.
Spencer Strider undergoes surgery to repair his UCL

The Braves announced this morning that RHP Spencer Strider underwent surgery yesterday in Arlington, Texas to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season. Strider made two starts this season, but left after only four innings in his second start of the season April 5th at home against Arizona after elbow discomfort. An MRI revealed the damage to his elbow.
Hawks stand pat at trade deadline

After weeks of rumors and speculation, Dejounte Murray isn't going anywhere. Or anyone on the Hawks, for that matter. Today's NBA trade deadline came and went, and the Hawks roster did not add or subtract any players. The Lakers, Pelicans, Nets, and Knicks were all rumored to be interested in acquiring the Hawks swingman Dejounte Murray. In the end, no deals were reached.

AcuĂ±a takes home the 2023 NL MVP in unanimous fashion

After an historic season that saw Ronald Acuña Jr. go 41/73, the Atlanta Braves OF was awarded the 2023 National League Most Valuable Player award tonight in unanimous fashion. He becomes the eighth player in team history to win the award. In addition to becoming the first 40/70 player in MLB history, Ronald led the NL in on-base percentage (.416), OPS (1.012), hits (217), and runs scored (154). He was second in majors in batting average (.337).

The Atlanta Braves starting rotation is set to bring back a familiar face for Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Braves have recalled RHP Michael Soroka from Gwinnett, and he's set to start tonight at Truist Park. This will be Soroka's first start for the Braves since July 21 against the Brewers. In that outing, he gave up four earned runs in 6 innings. His last month in Gwinnett has been impressive. In his last five starts for the Stripers, he's recorded 34 strikeouts in 26 innings.
