From the FAI press release that dropped in shortly after 5pm on Wednesday announcing Carla Ward’s appointment until midday on Thursday, we were reconsidering some of our previous opinions on the FAI . When are the IRFU going to start looking at women's rugby players as, well, players? They're not 'just the girls'. They're not your daughters. They're not an afterthought. They're not a team that no one gives a f*** about. They're rugby players. That's all they want to be, and if those tasked with running rugby in this country simply looked at them as such, then rugby might be in a better place. But women's rugby is constantly an afterthought here.
