Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney Gordon Edgar told The Wenatchee World he will resign next month, calling it the "right time to step away.""It's been an absolute honor and pleasure serving the people of Douglas County," he said Friday. Edgar has worked at the Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office since 1995. He was elected to his current position in 2018 following the retirement of former Prosecuting Attorney Steve Clem.

The Wenatchee City Council voted Thursday to reverse an ordinance that required the mayor to confirm the termination of top city officials with the council. Ordinance 2023-12 was passed by the city council in Oct. 12, 2023 at the encouragement of then-Mayor Frank Kuntz. The council already had the power to confirm the appointment of top-level city employees - like the police chief or public works director - but confirming a termination was a new power.
