Gov. Bob Ferguson signed a bill into law Tuesday prohibiting the use of certain exotic animals in traveling entertainment acts, more than a year after Wenatchee and East Wenatchee passed similar laws. Elephants, bears, nonhuman primates and all felines, except domesticated cats, are prohibited from use in traveling animal acts, like traveling circuses, according to Senate Bill 5065. Violation of the new law is punishable as a gross misdemeanor.
