Celebrating a year of accomplishments, the students of the Wenatchee Valley Transitions Program on Thursday spoke to the many activities they participated in throughout the school year. This will be last year the vocational training program for students with disabilities aged 18 to 21 will be housed at its current location on 1911 N. Wenatchee Ave. before moving to a wing of the Columbia Elementary School.

Chelan County commissioners, however, expressed concern about the potential loss in county revenue from the proposed tax increment area. Property taxes in a tax increment area, or TIA, are reallocated to public improvement projects within the designated area. They are not new taxes.

Chelan County commissioners on Tuesday again deferred a decision on funding a chief deputy position in the Auditor's Office, marking their third discussion in a month on the issue. Chelan County Auditor Skip Moore told commissioners on May 6 he would not seek reelection next year and may not complete his current term due to repeated denials of his staffing request.
