A 55-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a mother of six who was attacked while walking her dog, Suffolk police said. Roy Barclay, of no fixed abode, has been charged with the murder of Anita Rose, 57, who was found unconscious on a track road in Brantham just before 6.30am on July 24. He will appear at Ipswich magistrates’ court on Wednesday. It comes after police on Monday night said that they had arrested a man and detained him for questioning.

A body has been found in the search for the missing mother Victoria Taylor, North Yorkshire police confirmed. Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox said that the body was found by a police underwater search team at about 11.45am on Tuesday in the River Derwent “close to where Ms Taylor’s belongings were recovered”. Formal identification was yet to take place, but family members have been informed and were “understandably distressed”, he said.

Two trains have collided in Wales and the low-speed crash prompted a large emergency service response, causing widespread disruption on the railway lines. The incident took place near Llanbrynmair, Powys, just before 7.30pm on Monday night, Dyfed-Powys police confirmed. Paramedics and the fire brigade attended the scene alongside the British Transport Police and local officers. No deaths or serious injuries have been reported.
