Multiple train cars derailed in Eastland Saturday afternoon causing a grassfire and road closures. At 4:27 p.m., emergency services responded to the derailment on Seaman Street. The derailment sparked a grassfire that Eastland FD extinguished, and no spillage or injuries have been reported. Officials ask the community to avoid the area as crews continue to clear the area. Highway 112 and Seaman Street remain closed at this time. This is a developing story.

Players and coaches across the Big Country returned to their football fields starting Monday morning, while others arrived at midnight that day. This week marked the first schools are allowed to begin practices in preparation for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, larger schools in Class 5A and 6A that participated in spring practice will begin practices next Monday. "There's just a lot of excitement in the air right now," said Roscoe football head coach Jake Freeman.

A 26-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning in Albuquerque after local officers discovered he was wanted for a 2021 fatal crash in Abilene. Skylar Karnas was pulled over by Albuquerque authorities in the early morning hours for a speed violation. They later discovered he was wanted in Taylor county for a fatal crash that killed 53-year-old Jean Paul Zihalirwa and injured another in Abilene on June 2, 2021. Karnas was also injured in the automobile accident. This is a developing story.
