Longford . . . 2-13 Wicklow . . . 1-8Longford were crowned the All-Ireland Minor Tier 3 champions following a fantastic win over Wicklow in the final at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore on Saturday. Making the most of another chance to win some silverware and who really embraced the ‘C’ competition under the driving force of their inspirational manager Joe Breslin and the other mentors, the mighty midlanders came out on top by the comfortable margin of 8 points in the end.

After showing fierce resistance to survive in the slender wins over Fermanagh, Carlow (after extra-time) and Sligo, the gutsy Longford U-17 footballers are just one step away from All-Ireland title glory in the Tier 3 Minor Championship. Providing the opposition in the ‘C’ final at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore this Saturday (throw-in 12.30pm) will be Wicklow and Joe Breslin’s side can take absolutely nothing for granted in the battle for the Seamus Heaney Cup.
