Day and night. God's Word should be the first thing we are thinking about when we wake up and the last thing we are thinking about when we go to bed.

    4-Hers participated in the livestock judging contest at the Washington County Fair Monday, July 17. There were a record breaking number of teams competing from all across southeast Iowa. Livestock judging consists of analyzing animals and measuring them against a standard that is commonly accepted as being ideal for that species. In a competition, youth analyze four animals of each species and rank them from best to worst.

    Washington County Clover Kid first and second-grader members had their time to show on Wednesday, July 19 at the Clover Kid Rabbit Show. Washington County 4-H Clover Kids had the opportunity to learn more about the rabbit project through a special mentoring program which then gives them their very own County Fair Rabbit Class. Interested 1st and 2nd grade Clover Kids were paired with older 4-H rabbit project members. The Clover Kids and mentors met prior to the show.

    Many people enjoyed “making and taking” during the Working Exhibits on Tuesday, July 18 at the Washington County Fair. A large crowd flocked to the hands-on presentations during the late afternoon and left with some homemade items and valuable facts. Five groups of 4-H’ers participated in the Working Exhibits, ranging in activities from learning about sensory slime to origami to heat safety.
