After the Bulldogs wrapped up the program's first team title in state golf, Wilmes was set for a playoff with a chance to take the individual championship before weather caused a delay in play.

The NSAA State boys golf championships wrapped up the second and final day of play yesterday with area athletes and teams vying for a spot on the medal stand. Starting in Class D, Creighton captured the team title for the first time in school history with a score of 683, winning by 17 strokes. Other area team finishes saw Neligh-Oakdale take 8th, Archangels Catholic 12th, and Bloomfield 15th.

NORFOLK - After three straight road contests to open the season, the Norfolk Elkhorn Valley Bank Juniors finally got a chance to play at home yesterday when they welcomed two squads from Lincoln for doubleheader action. The Norfolk juniors wasted no time putting on a show for the home fans, racking up nine hits and jumping and scoring runs in the first three innings on their way to an 8-0 win over Lincoln Southwest Innovative Concrete in Game One of Legion baseball action.

At the state track meet last week, Galyen participated and medaled in four events, taking 1st as part of the state and state meet record holding 4x100 (42.40) and 4x400 meter relay teams (3:19.17), while also finishing 1st in the 400 (48.92) and 3rd in the 200-meter runs (22.40).

The NSAA State Golf Championships got underway yesterday as Northeast Nebraska teams and athletes looked to put themselves in a position to challenge for a state title. Starting in Class D, Creighton leads the field by nine strokes with a one-day score of 342, followed by Archangels Catholic (5th at 361), Neligh-Oakdale (7th at 366) and Bloomfield (15th at 389). Individually, the Bulldogs Calvin Wilmes leads the field by four strokes with a one-over par 73.
