Weight Loss Maintenance After Financial Incentives End—Reply In Reply We agree with Drs Guo and Zhang that sustainable behavioral changes are required. To support this, our trial combined financial incentives, daily behavioral text messages, and web links to evidence-based information and services. As stated in the discussion of our article, we did not test financial incentives alone.1 Guo and Zhang suggest that only intrinsic motivation leads to sustainable long-term change.

The trial was planned to take place in 10–15 sites; 17 will be the final number. Each site is an English local authority area or National Health Service (NHS) Health Board in Wales or Scotland, or part of a local authority area with low breastfeeding rates. Sites are selected for usual care that does not deliver universal proactive peer support antenatally and postnatally.
