SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Five people have been charged in connection with the fatal human smuggling incident in which a panga overturned in the waters off Torrey Pines State Beach Monday morning, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California. The press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office says at least three people died in this incident, including a 14-year-old boy from India.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Scripps Health and Anthem Blue Cross have agreed to a deal extending the hospital's previous in-network contracts with the insurer after negotiations lasted for several months, the hospital said in a press release. When the hospital and health insurance company failed to come to terms by the Jan. 1, 2025, deadline, tens of thousands of Scripps patients insured by Anthem were forced out of network.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A brand new showcase for women's sports is coming to Oceanside this fall. The SI Women's Games will be held from Oct. 28 through Nov. 2 at Frontwave Arena, bringing a Ryder Cup-style competition pitting the Americas against the rest of the world. The sports featured in the competition include basketball, gymnastics, tennis, flag football, volleyball and combat sports. Prize money is on the line in this showdown of elite athletes from Team Americas and Team World.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Police Department says it is looking for a person of interest after a woman was found dead on Euclid Avenue on Monday, April 28. According to SDPD, officers responded to a home in the 4300 block of Euclid Avenue around 8:50 p.m. Monday. When they found the dead woman at the scene, officers called the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

James Canning, the executive director for strategic communication and information, confirmed this to ABC 10News via email Wednesday afternoon. "San Diego Unified takes seriously all possible threats of violence," the email stated.
