Leonardo DiCaprio will present Robert De Niro with the honorary Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement at the Cannes Film Festival‘s opening ceremony on Tuesday evening, Variety has confirmed. DiCaprio and De Niro first starred together in the 1993 film “This Boy’s Life,” and reunited for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which screened in official selection in Cannes in 2023. De Niro will also participate in a masterclass on Wednesday at the Debussy theater in the Palais.

Cannes is making it official: nudity and “excessively voluminous” clothing are not welcome on the red carpet of the Palais. After a demonstrator appeared topless on the Cannes red carpet in 2022 and Bianca Censori stretched the limits with her appearance with a transparent dress at the Grammys earlier this year, the festival issued a statement in accordance with “the institutional framework” of the festival and French law.

Rosanna Norton, who was Oscar-nominated for costume design for 1982’s “Tron” and designed Sissy Spacek’s iconic prom dress for “Carrie,” died of cancer May 7 in Los Angeles. She was 80. Her early costume design credits include Terrence Malick’s “Badlands” and Brian de Palma’s “Carrie” and “Phantom of the Paradise.” “We had no money,” she recalled in a video interview about “Carrie.” She found many of the prom outfits in a store in the Valley that was going out of business, she said.

Spilo was dismissed from production of the film “Runner” after an HR investigation for inappropriate behavior that allegedly included bullying and yelling at crew, according to sources.
