IRELAND IS SET to plunge into a spell of increasingly “unsettled” weather, Met Éireann has said, with heavy rain and flooding possible over the next few days. Last night, a Status Yellow rain warning was issued for counties Cork and Kerry, with spells of heavy rain forecast. It will come into effect at 11pm tonight and remain in place until noon on Friday. Met Éireann warned that there is a possibility of localised flooding in both counties tomorrow as a result of the rain.

THERE WERE ONLY 41 homes available to Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) recipients in March, representing 4% of total properties available. Of these, only four were available through standard HAP limits, while the rest were in the ‘discretionary’ limits. The latest report by the Simon Communities also reveals that only three out of the 41 were suitable for a single person or a couple household. All three properties were in Dublin City North.

MOST EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS lack appropriate spaces for assessing people going through a mental health emergency, a new report has found. There are also “substantial delays” for anyone looking for a mental health assessment at evenings and weekends. The findings are contained in a new report from the Mental Health Commission on access to acute mental health care through emergency departments.
