Venice is often depicted as a haven of romance, with lovers on gondolas being serenaded as they drift under the Bridge of Sighs into a maze of Italian canals. Pittsburgh native Mickey Tesone did fall in love in Venice, but not on a gondola. Cupid hit his mark while she was shopping. “I was 28 years old and traveling with my grandmother and aunt when I met Ennio [Leperdi] in his showroom in Murano,” she recalled. The three women were shopping for Venetian glass.

Dr. Lynda Flom and her husband, Howard Kline, are only the third owners in the nearly 100-year history of their Tudor-style stone home at 6850 Reynolds St. in Point Breeze. “It's killing me to sell it,” said Dr. Flom, a pediatric neuroradiologist who bought the house from Dr. William McNaugher. He and his father, Dr. Samuel McNaugher, worked at Allegheny General Hospital. The couple have lived there for 38 years, raising three children who are now adults and have moved away.

Looking at 430 Woodland Road in Edgeworth, you might think it’s a beautiful example of Tudor architecture. But you would be as mistaken as Anne Boleyn when she decided to wed Henry VIII. This house, with its timber and brick facade, is actually French Norman Revival in style. “What distinguishes it from Tudor is the round room similar to a silo,” said owner Doug McAdams. He uses the little round room in the turret as his office.
