A PROPOSED planning application for a 66-bed care home in Bishopton has been outlined by developers - on land previously earmarked for a potential educational facility. The proposals have been put forward by LNT Care Developments and a letter sent to nearby residents outlines what the plans are and also that an application has been sent to Stratford District Council - something the council has said is not the case.

POLICE are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage relating to a hit-and-run incident in Stratford last week. At around 8.45am on Monday 16th June, the driver of a silver pick-up style vehicle was in collision with a pedestrian on Milcote Road. In a statement, Warwickshire Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage following a collision near Stratford last week. “The pedestrian – a woman in her 60s – was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

IT was all downhill speed in Avon Dassett last weekend as the annual Soap Box Derby took centre stage. Almost 30 homemade soapbox cars took part in either adult or junior events, with a top speed of 46mph recorded. As well as the large number of drivers, around 3,000 spectators watched on at ‘thrills and not many spills’ as described by organisers. Hundreds of pounds were raised for charity including £600 for the Hub on the Hill and £1200 for the Children’s Christmas Wish List.

A NEW banking hub has opened in Alcester ahead of the closure of the town’s last bank. Lloyd’s closes its doors for the final time on Wednesday 2nd July, with the Shipston branch, also the last in the town, set to shut in November. The banking hub is a shared banking space located at the Greig Hall. Operated by the Post Office, the hub is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. The Post Office has said that five high street banks have signed up to the hub, with a different bank for each day.
