On 29 November 2023, a Finance Bill was published with nearly 100 pages taken up with all the necessary detail to carry out the abolition of the Lifetime Allowance and introduce two separate caps on tax-free lump sums that take effect from 6 April 2024. As expected, the Bill also includes details of the transitional arrangements for those who have only drawn part of their benefits. This is a significant change to one of the corner stones of the current tax regime that was introduced in 2006.
