We finally get a break from the cloudy and somewhat damp weather as the storm track inches away from us. Today, we’ll still have scattered clouds, with clearing late in the evening. The long Memorial Day weekend will abound with sunshine and warmer temperatures elevating into the 80s on Sunday. That’s the plan, anyway. It is possible we’ll see occasional cloudiness moving by over the holiday, as we are still close to the weather action to our north.

Are you getting tired of this cool and wet spring weather? We surely need the rain, but a day or two of sunshine along the way would be nice. After a few scattered showers today, Wednesday through the weekend appears to warm up and dry out. I can’t rule out a shower, but at least we’ll get to our average high of 70 degrees. Later in the weekend, we may see 80 degrees again. Did you have some heavy downpours where you were on Saturday?

Much-needed rain fell but as of Wednesday afternoon it is only a quarter of the amount we would expect for the month so far.

Mother’s Day turned out to be a cool one, with Vancouver’s high at only 61 degrees — the coolest since April 27 at 60 degrees. We should be around 67 degrees for a normal high temperature. Sunday’s rainfall...

I have to tell you, I am really starting to enjoy these endless days of warm and dry weather. Not so good for the countryside, however, as the environment is quickly drying out. We may have to pay for that later on. Meanwhile, we have another mostly sunny day today and then of course we have to throw in some scattered light showers for Mother’s Day. Nothing heavy but gentle showers may abound and tally a tenth of an inch in the rain gauge.
