    SOUTH PLAINFIELD – The South Plainfield Middle School (SPMS) Memorial Day Program took place on May 21 this year. The 7th and 8th graders, along with members of local government, the Board of Education and school administrators, paused to honor veterans and first responders. The program began with "The Star Spangled Banner," performed by the SPMS Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Orchestra Director Sarah Livecchi.

    SOUTH PLAINFIELD - South Plainfield Buddy Ball held a Superhero Dance for team players on Feb. 21 at the Police Athletic League (PAL). Buddy Ball participants meet on Monday evenings during each soccer, basketball, t-ball, and kickball season. To celebrate the continued dedication of the Buddy Ball team, the PAL gym was transformed into a Superhero dance party complete with DJ, strobe lights, Marvel decor, prizes, crafts, and food.

    PLAINFIELD - South Plainfield's  PinkSOCS Breast Cancer Foundation was presented a $1,000 check by Complete Care at Woodlands nursing home in Plainfield on Jan.14th. PinkSOCS was selected from numerous Central Jersey organizations by Complete Care Management employees who voted in November as part of their “Pay It Forward” program. “I think it’s amazing to be chosen to receive this donation,” said Christine Dispenziere, Riley School teacher and PinkSOCS Trustee.

    SOUTH PLAINFIELD - The South Plainfield Middle School (SPMS) upheld a time-honored tradition on Nov. 6, hosting a Veterans Day ceremony to honor veterans. Seventh and 8th graders stood to applaud as South Plainfield veterans filed in waving to the crowd. Members of South Plainfield’s first responders, several veterans themselves, attended, including the South Plainfield Police and Fire Departments as well as Emergency Medical Services.

"Whereas 'Recovery Month' is a national observance held every September to educate citizens that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life," said Anesh.
