SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- Don Panzarella, the winningest coach in New Jersey high school softball history, was an honorary coach on June 16 at the New Jersey North-South Senior Super 36 Softball All-Star Game at Seton Hall University. Panzarella, who stepped down at the end of the 2024 season after coaching at South Plainfield for 33 years, had a record of 848-239 (a .780 percentage), which represents the most victories for any softball coach ever in the state.

Effective Aug. 1, Dr. Dana Karas, who currently serves as director of pupil personnel services for the South Plainfield School District, will take over as building administrator, replacing Sam Fierra who is retiring next month.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- Dom Massaro, a junior center fielder at South Plainfield, represented the Tigers at the New Jersey Quad-County Underclassmen All-Star Game earlier this week. The game pitted all-stars from Middlesex and Hudson counties against all-stars from Union and Essex Counties. It was held at A.L. Johnson High School in Clark on Tuesday afternoon. Massaro started in center field, drew a walk in his first at bat and handled a couple of defensive chances flawlessly.
