"Cavalcade" marks the exact midpoint of June with music looking forward, and a very special look back at two 20th century icons. New songs are by David Byrne, Van Morrison, Wolf Alice, Brittany Davis and groovy young singer-songwriters aron!, Laufey, and our pal Trapper Schoepp, who gets serious about a personal issue but with panache.

This first of June pulls out of the recent mud of May with a musically optimistic greeting for the brightest month. New songs by Gigi Perez, Somebody's Child, The Airport 77's and jazzer Kurt Elling get the mid-point of our yer bustin' out all over. After sopping wet week, let's go camping! ("Sopping" is a grandma admonishment of my youth as in: "Get in the house, you're sopping wet, all sweated!"). Or at least discover songs in a woodland ramble, where Bon Iver and José González share a toadstool with Laura Mvula, Donovan, and Talk Talk. Not beach weather yet, but the great outdoors is a good "Cavalcade choice" for this holiday weekend.

"Cavalcade" welcomes legendary producer and author Joe Boyd for conversation and a retrospective of his truly historic roster of recordings, including Pink Floyd's first single, 10,000 Maniacs' major label debut, and the folk-rock of Nick Drake and Fairport Convention. Add to that the reggae of Toots and the Maytals and a deep connection to world music through Boyd's Hannibal Records label.

@PaulCavalconte Good to know, was ready to set up a go fund me page. I miss that station...and you!

Thanks—and please be patient, we are working on getting it up on the WBGO platform soon.

@PaulCavalconte I'm really REALLY missing the New Standards channel on WNYC. It was my "go to" music source for years, but nothing lasts forever.
