GOLDSBORO — The Wilson American Legion Post 13 senior baseball team collected its first win of the season Monday might, May 26, with a 10-hit explosion in a 14-3 five-inning triumph over Cary Post 67 at Carolina Athletic Park. The game was part of a showcase of American Legion baseball teams organized by Garner Nationals Post 232 head coach Chris Cook. Wilson (1-1) built a 9-0 lead in its first three turns at-bat before Post 67 scrapped together three runs in the bottom of the third.

PUEBLO, Colo. — Aniya Heckstall blazed into Barton College track and field history as its first female All-American on Saturday afternoon, May 24, at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The junior sprinter finished seventh in the 100-meter dash at CSU Pueblo’s ThunderBowl, tying her own school record of 11.41 seconds. The performance made her Barton’s first female All-American in outdoor track and field and first overall since long jumper Larry Russell in 2018.
