I'm not Jewish, but my wife is, and, thus, a recent Monday evening found us in the audience for a screening of "Blind Spot" at Southwestern University, our local, 1,500-student liberal arts institution in Georgetown, Texas. Georgetown is home to more Jews than one might expect, and many showed up for the movie. "Blind Spot" documents the surge in antisemitism at American colleges and universities in the wake of Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Nearly 100 workers gathered outside the Brooklyn VA Medical Center last week to demand fair treatment and stronger labor protections, protesting what they called an attack on veterans’ services and the federal workforce by the Trump administration. Members of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Locals 862 and 1667 lined the sidewalk with picket signs, denouncing the Trump administration’s plan to eliminate 80,000 positions at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Brooklynites showed their groovy kind of love for Phil Collins on Saturday by packing a Greenpoint bar to celebrate the annual tribute to the legendary British drummer and singer. Screens at Berry Park displayed a compilation of Collins’ performances, appearances, and career highlights as a DJ spun vinyl records of his solo hits and classic Genesis tracks as fans danced with cutouts of the pint-sized crooner.
