Alexander Dennis has announced it has delivered 12 new Enviro400EV to Arriva London for use on Transport for London’s (TfL) SL6 route. The double-decker buses, which are part of a larger order of 30, are the first examples of the manufacturer’s latest-generation battery-electrics to enter service in London. The new Enviro400EV will travel between West Croydon and Russell Square on the limited-stop, peak-hours service, of which Arriva London took over operation in March.

Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel will mark Mental Health Awareness Week by bringing back its Chatty Bus initiative. In partnership with the charity Restore, volunteers will be on board Oxford Bus Company’s 5A service from 0900hrs to 1500hrs on 14 May. The aim is to encourage social interaction and tackle loneliness during Mental Health Awareness Week on 12-18 May.

Local Transport Minister Simon Lightwood today met with coach sector representatives ahead of National Coach Week to pledge government support for growth of the industry. The MP for Wakefield and Rothwell visited Star Coaches, just outside his constituency in Batley, to meet staff and RHA leaders as the sector prepares for a week-long celebration of coach’s value on 12-18 May.

More than 450,000 passengers used contactless payments on buses in the first month of the Bee Network’s integrated “tap and go” capped fares scheme in Manchester. The “tap and go” process was introduced by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) on buses on 24 March, having been available on Metrolink trams since 2019. The integration means that passengers using contactless will have fares capped at new daily and weekly rates across bus and tram.

Stagecoach East Scotland is to offer free bus travel to guide dog trainers when travelling with their canine trainees, as part of a joint initiative with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Being able to travel confidently on public transport from when young is a key requirement for guide dogs.
