'The Beekeeper 2' snapped up by Amazon

Amazon MGM Studios has snagged wordwide rights to the sequel to The Beekeeper, the Jason Statham-led action film which was directed by David Ayer. The deal is apparently worth over $50 million according to Deadline with Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2) stepping in to direct the sequel with Statham returned as the title character, aka Adam Clay. The word on the street is that the film may get a theatrical release too with shooting expected to kick off later in the year.
