Alex Garland’s fractious thriller Civil War depicted a dystopian America splintered by political violence at a time when the country’s real-time morality wasn’t too dissimilar to that of the film. Garland’s films, if nothing else, always speak to the moment. Here’s your very first look at Johnny Depp in new film Day Drinking. Depp joins Madelyn Cline, and Penélope Cruz in the Lionsgate film which is directed by Marc Webb – (500) Days of Summer. The film follows a private-yacht bartender (Madelyn Cline) who encounters a mysterious, onboard guest (Johnny Depp). They soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Penélope Cruz) and connected in ways no one saw coming. Sounds about as far away from Webb’s last project Snow White, right?
