Pennsylvania should keep cutting the corporate net income tax rate, implement tort and tax reform and increase the speed and communication of permit approvals as a way to boost the commonwealth’s economic competitiveness, according to a new strategy released by the PA Chamber Foundation. Through its Keystone Initiative, the chamber is making 100 or more recommendations that directly address competitiveness for business as well as improving conditions for individuals and families in Pennsylvania.

UPMC this month announced stepped up security procedures across its hospitals in the wake of the hostage incident at a York hospital in late February that killed a police officer and the gunman. The Pittsburgh-based health care system has more than 40 hospitals across Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York, and is the largest nongovernmental employer in Pennsylvania.
