    SCHENECTADY — City police are among only a handful of law enforcement agencies in New York that are using drones as a first responder to emergency calls. Police Chief Eric Clifford is hoping the unmanned aerial vehicles will help keep officers safer and cut down on wait times for lower priority calls such as loud music and gatherings, as well as loitering complaints, during busier times when patrol officers are handling more urgent gun-related crimes.

    LAKE LUZERNE — A town couple faces felonies for allegedly running over their landlord with a pickup truck and then getting out of the vehicle and assaulting him during a dispute that turned violent over the weekend, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The couple, both 27, were arrested and charged with first-degree attempted assault, according to the sheriff’s office, and endangering the welfare of children.

    ROTTERDAM —  Police say a man was struck and killed by a train around Putnam Road early Monday morning. The man, who police said did not have any identification on him, was unresponsive and suffering from traumatic injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.     GLENVILLE-- A $20 million building project to convert the shuttered Kmart into a Target store is picking up speed with demolition set to begin in three weeks, according to Schenectady County officials. Site work on the 14-acre parcel at the corner of Route 50 and Glenridge Road will begin with asbestos abatement followed by demolition and then the pouring of the new foundation before the building construction starts.
